SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) is advertising a senior Company Secretary vacancy based in Kathu, Northern Cape. About the Role
This Company Secretary vacancy reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer. Specifically, the successful candidate will promote sound governance practices and ensure compliance with the Trust Deed, applicable legislation, and regulatory requirements. Furthermore, the role provides strategic governance advice to the Board of Trustees, Board Committees, and Executive Management. As a result, your work will strengthen ethical leadership, accountability, and informed decision-making across the Trust.
Key Responsibilities
In this Company Secretary vacancy, you will provide strategic governance leadership. For instance, your core duties will include:
- Serve as principal governance adviser to the Board, Committees, and Executive Management
- Lead and enhance the Trust’s governance framework in line with the Trust Deed and King IV™
- Drive Board and Committee effectiveness through sound processes and Board evaluations
- Monitor legislative developments and advise on emerging governance risks
- Provide governance leadership on transformation, partnerships, investments, and funding arrangements
- Lead the Company Secretariat function and build governance capability across the Trust
- Build strategic relationships with regulators, auditors, legal advisers, and key stakeholders
Who Should Apply
First, review the minimum requirements carefully. Specifically, SIOC-CDT prefers candidates with an LLB or equivalent, although qualifications in Corporate Governance or Commerce also qualify. Moreover, a CGISA/CGI designation adds significant advantage. Additionally, you need 8–10 years of relevant governance experience, including at least five years supporting Boards and Executive governance structures. Consequently, professionals with trust, PBO, or development finance backgrounds hold a strong edge.
