Beneficiary Communities Discretionary Fund SIOC-CDT is allocating Funds for small but impactful community initiatives that fall outside the main focus areas of Education, Health, and Enterprise Development.
Kanako Social Responsibility
The Kanako Social Responsibility Programme is SIOC-CDT’s direct response to the everyday challenges faced by learners from the underserved communities. Through this programme, we provide essential support that promotes dignity, improves school attendance, and enhances the overall well-being of learners across our beneficiary areas in the Northern Cape and Limpopo provinces.
Our Key Interventions:
- School Uniform and Stationery Drive
To ensure that no learner is left behind due to lack of necessities, we distribute school uniforms, stationery, and school shoes to learners from vulnerable households—supporting both access to education and learner confidence. - Matric Exam Packs ProjectRecognising the critical importance of the final school year, we provide Grade 12 learners with specially curated exam packs. These include essential supplies to help them prepare effectively and perform at their best during exams.
- Sanitary Towel Distribution
Quarterly sanitary towel distributions help reduce absenteeism among female learners. This initiative also promotes menstrual health awareness while restoring dignity for young women in our communities. - Dignity Packs Project
Hygiene should never be a barrier to learning. Through our Dignity Packs initiative, we supply male and female learners with personal care/hygiene items such as soap, deodorant, toothpasteand shoe care products—ensuring all learners can participate fully and confidently in the classroom.
Our Impact:
- Improved school attendance and learner participation
- Reduced stigma and absenteeism linked to lack of basic resources
- Boosted learner morale and academic engagement
- Supported local economies through procurement from local suppliers
The Kanako Social Responsibility Programme is more than just a social investment—it’s a commitment to building dignity, resilience, and hope in every child’s life we touch.
