KATHU – It is with deepest regret that SIOC-CDT CEO, on behalf of the Board of Trustees, announces the sudden death of its newly elected Gamagara Community Representative Trustee, Mr Thusoeng Clement Itumeleng, whose death has been confirmed on 4 January 2020.
SIOC-CDT Board of Trustees and the entire team sends sincere condolences to his family and loved ones. His passing is a great loss to the organisation as the Board was eagerly looking forward to working productively with him in advancing SIOC-CDT’s core duty of community development.
Detailed information on memorial and funeral services arrangements is not yet confirmed by the family and as such SIOC-CDT has no further information to share regarding this matter.
We urge all community members to support and keep the family in their prayers during this difficult time.
SIOC Community Development Trust (SIOC-CDT) was established in 2006 by Sishen Iron Ore Company (SIOC) (Pty)Ltd to invest in the uplifting of communities in which the mining company operates in the Northern Cape and Limpopo. We invest significantly in community development projects aimed at ensuring sustainability beyond mining operation.
SIOC-CDT has substantiated its stated intention of “defining ourselves through actions, not our words” by investing over 1 billion in socio-economic and community development projects in its beneficiary communities: Gamagara, Tsantsabane, Ga-Segonyana and Joe Morolong in the Northern Cape, as well as Thabazimbi in Limpopo.
