Kgodiso Project – update

Kgodiso Project’s objective is to empower up to 50 potentially scalable businesses across all five of the beneficiary communities. The timeline for the project is to launch in October 2022 and to run for the next 12-36 months. The support provided to the selected participants will be needs-based and can include both a financial and non-financial element.

The Honey Production Project

The Honey Production Project

This project aims to support interested emerging Agri-preneurs with the required resources to start-up and set up honey production businesses. This includes support in setting up of hives, honey extraction, bottling and access to local and export markets.

Covid-19 Project

Covid-19 hit South Africa hard, leaving the country in a state of emergency and economic shock, with a national lockdown driving all sectors to respond swiftly as more and more people lost their income.

Combating extreme hunger, capacitating health facilities and preparing testing/isolation centres became an immediate priority for SIOC-CDT as the virus continued to claim lives.

Thabazimbi Hospital

A variety of assistance is all detailed in the video.

Laxey Road

The objective of the project is to upgrade a 12.8 kilometre stretch of the MR947 from gravel to a surfaced road so that local communities may enjoy improved mobility and connectivity to services. The project further aims to enhance road safety, reduce travel time and boost local economic development by facilitating easier transportation for residents, SMMEs and school children.

Bizniz in a Box

The Bizniz in a Box Youth Empowerment Programme was approved within SIOC-CDT at the end of 2017 and is currently in implementation in Thabazimbi.

Joe Morolong road project

SIOC-CDT, in partnership with the Department of Roads and Public Works in the Northern Cape, funded the Joe Morolong road project. 

Bachelor of Education Project

 SIOC-CDT partnered with the Northern Cape Department of Education and invested in the provision of high quality, content-rich and properly accredited teacher/professional development programmes through Rhodes University’s Centre for Social Development (CSD), the Mathematics Education Project (RUMEP) and the Institute for the Study of English in Africa (ISEA).

PILO Project

SIOC-CDT funded PILO to implement a district-based change model in the John Taolo Gaetsewe Education District. This was based on SIOC-CDT’s strong commitment to sustainable education change.

DAIP Quality Education Program

As part of its commitment to improve the socio-economic conditions of its beneficiary communities, SIOC-CDT invested a great deal of resources in the provision of quality education.

Re A Fola Project

SIOC-CDT funded the Re A Fola project in response to the growing need for access to healthcare facilities. This initiative is in partnership with the Northen-Cape Department of Health. The initial launch of the Re a Fola mobile clinic (rendering primary healthcare services) took place in the Tstansabane Municipality in 2018. In October 2020, the mobile clinic services were extended to include the John Taolo Gaetsewe (JTG) District and in 2021, further extended to include the Thabazimbi district.

 

Masilo Maria Leu Multipurpose Centre

SIOC-CDT funded the construction of the Masilo Maria Leu Multipurpose Centre, which was officially opened on the 5th of December 2014. The centre was named after the late Ms Masilo Maria Leu, who was a well-known anti-apartheid activist.

Mabogopedi Multipurpose Hall

The project goal is to complete the 1200-seater hall for the school and make it ready for use to address the social ills emerging from the incomplete structure, which exacerbates a lack of discipline among students and has a negative impact on the community.

SIOC-CDT Bursary Program

Since its inception, SIOC-CDT has been offering bursaries to deserving young people from its beneficiary communities to study at various higher education institutions across the country.

Olifantshoek Sports Facility

SIOC-CDT has funded the upgrade of an existing sports facility in Olifantshoek for R21-million. This project was approved by the Trustees of SIOC-CDT in November 2012.

Groevlei Secondary School

Expansion, renovation and refurbishment of Groenvlei Secondary School.

Babatas Water Project

Bulk water supply capacity for 600 and reticulation to current 300 households. Babatas CPA community supplied with clean drinking water. An emergent needs project.

Asbestos Roof Replacement Project

An emergent needs project.
